Principal Designate appointed for proposed academy in Kettering
13 January 2009
ULT has appointed former Montagu School teacher, Iain Denning, Principal Designate for its proposed academy in Kettering.
Mr Denning’s appointment follows an extensive national recruitment exercise. He will take the helm at the proposed academy which is set to replace Montagu, Avondale Junior and Avondale Infants Schools in September 2009.
Mr Denning has over 20 years’ teaching experience including five years (1994-1999) at Montagu School as Head of Modern Foreign Languages. He joins the academy from Hazeley School, Milton Keynes – a successful comprehensive school catering for 850 students aged 11 to 18, where he has been Head Teacher since it opened four years ago.
Welcoming the appointment, Sir Ewan Harper, Chief Executive of ULT, said: “We are delighted to welcome Mr Denning to the ULT family of academies. His impressive track record in teaching, including the five years he spent at Montagu, will prove invaluable in giving the proposed academy the best possible start. Mr Denning’s appointment serves to illustrate to parents, pupils and staff our commitment to the Kettering area and our aim to bring out the best in everyone.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Denning said: “It will be a privilege and an honour to come back to Kettering and I welcome the opportunity of working closely with the heads, staff, students and parents of the three predecessor schools as well as the wider community in taking this exciting proposal forward.
“Having led a new school from day one, I appreciate and relish the challenges associated with this project, where our main focus will be to build on the strengths of the existing schools. The academy proposal will bring investment, independence and support and in turn, the very highest standards of education that this area deserves.”
