Across the North West, United Learning Trust (ULT) academies are celebrating their successful GCSE results.

At Manchester Academy, 40% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.  This is an increase of five percentage points on last year’s results.

At Stockport Academy, the number of students achieving five or more A*-C grades has risen to 47% compared to 22% in 2007, the year before the academy opened and 33% last year.   25.5% of students have achieved five or more A* to C grades at GCSE including English and maths.

At William Hulme’s Grammar School, the former fee paying independent school which also opened as an academy in September 2007, 85.3% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades at GCSE including English and maths.

At Salford City Academy, 33% of students achieved five or more A* to C grades including English and maths.  In total, 59% of students have achieved five or more A*-C grades at GCSE, up from 48% last year.

Commenting on the GCSE results achieved by students at these academies Charlotte Rendle-Short, Deputy Chief Executive of the United Learning Trust, which sponsors the academies, said: “Across the North West, ULT academies are giving local children a strong education and encouraging them to consistently outperform themselves.  I congratulate all our students and staff on their achievements today.”
