Paddington Academy celebrates GCSE success

24 August 2010

Students and staff at Paddington Academy are celebrating after recording the academy’s best ever GCSE results.  The number of students achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and maths has jumped from 34% last year to 62%.  In total, 94% of students have achieved five or more A*-C grades, up from 86% last year.

Oli Tomlinson, Principal of Paddington Academy, said: “Everyone at the academy is absolutely thrilled with these fantastic results.  Students and staff have worked incredibly hard all year and these results demonstrate that considerable progress is being made in all subjects.  These results are testament to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff.  I am delighted that so many have decided to continue at the academy and I look forward to welcoming them to the Sixth Form.”

Fiona Oommen, Southern Regional Executive of the United Learning Trust (ULT), said: “The huge improvement in results at Paddington Academy is down to the hard work of Oli Tomlinson, her colleagues and students.  For results to rise so significantly in just one year is outstanding and signal that progress at the academy is continuing at a rapid pace.  I congratulate everyone at the academy on these results which they thoroughly deserve.”
