Stockport Academy achieves best ever GCSE results

24 August 2010

At Stockport Academy, staff and students are celebrating the academy’s best ever GCSE results, with the percentage of students achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and maths making a significant jump to 51%. The equivalent figure last year was 25%.

Ben Dunne, Interim Principal of Stockport Academy, said: “We are very pleased with these encouraging results which bring us comfortably above the National Challenge target.  Congratulations to all the students on their achievements today.”

“These results build on last week’s very promising A level results when the academy more than doubled the number of students gaining A*s and As.”

Kathy August, Deputy Chief Executive of the United Learning Trust (ULT), which sponsors the academy, said: “Not only do these encouraging results show how hard staff and students have worked this year, they also signal the real progress underway at the academy.”
